Vintage Honeymoon

A few years after originally meeting Ann at a vintage clothing and vehicle event at Belfast City Hall, I asked her out for a meal, just for a bit of company.

It grew from then and on Saturday 12th September 2020 we got married in Cullybackey Methodist church, County Antrim.

We used my 1928 Austin 20 to travel to the wedding ceremony. Our grandchildren joined us in the car coming from the ceremony to the reception, which was good fun.

Then we wondered where we should go on honeymoon, if at all, with this Covid thing.

As we definitely weren’t going in an airplane, and wouldn’t go on a boat to the likes of Scotland, I suggested using my vintage caravan. We decided this was a brilliant idea. 

So we pulled it out of an old shed, got it power washed, and Anne cleaned up the inside of it and, do you know, it’s the best thing we ever did.

We love how our 1928 Austin 20 and 1930 caravan, parked in the main carpark at Cushendun, County Antrim, has brought smiles to the faces of the tourists and locals who have dropped by every day to say hello and take photographs.

The experience has been absolutely brilliant.

What better place in the world would you want to do a tour than the County Antrim coast?

We started in Cushendun because it is near to home, easy to do, and the sun is shining like I don’t know what. It’s just lovely.

As Ann is 66 and I am 69 years old, we’re also vintage.
