Magic Rising is a song by Donal Byrne, singer songwriter for Willowjack.
It’s also the title track from the Dublin group’s new album of the same name, released yesterday and available now – https://willowjack.bandcamp.com/album/magic-rising-album?
This new track by Willowjack traces a direct line to our ancestors, all the way back to the primitive.
To magic, fire and earth. The song is about amazement and our yearning for love.
Tinged with sadness, the track also references innocence which will inevitably be lost as we move closer to the the end of the amazing journey that is life itself.
Band lead Donal Byrne began writing songs in his teens and has been writing and performing full time ever since, starting out as as founder member of Catch the Monkey and Crow Jane in the ’90s (opening for Bjork and Primal Scream).
Willowjack are vocalist and songwriter Donal Byrne alongside enigmatic violinist Colin Moore.
Embracing the theatrical and the primal, the band’s unique style is inspired by Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, The Waterboys, Bowie, Prince, The Doors, The Stooges, Roxy Music and Declan O’Rourke.
